This policy explains what information the ASL Department Dictionary (asldepartmentdictionary.org) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Browsing the dictionary

You do not need an account to search or view signs. We do not ask visitors for their name, email address, or any other personal details.

Teacher accounts

Teachers who sign in to manage dictionary content provide a name, an email address, and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form and cannot be read by us. We use this information only to run the account: signing you in, showing who made an edit, and contacting you about your account.

Cookies

The site uses a session cookie to keep signed-in teachers logged in. It is required for sign-in to work and is not used for tracking.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like most hosts, Vercel automatically records basic technical information about each request, such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site and keep it secure. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's previous visits to this site or other websites.

We keep teacher account information for as long as the account is active. To have your account and its personal information deleted, email us at the address below.
